Barium sulfate is widely used as a physical pigment in coatings. It plays an important role in improving the thickness, abrasion resistance, water resistance, heat resistance, surface hardness and impact resistance of coatings. In addition, barium sulfate has a high reflectance in the Wavelength range of 300-400μm , which can protect the paint film from light aging. It is an effective and cheap white inorganic light stabilizer. Ultrafine Barium sulfate has many characteristics produced by special process, which other similar products do not have. Its structure makes it as a good smooth agent to enhance the smoothness of the coating. It can be used as a reinforcing agent in self-cleaning coatings .The paint cost will be reduced due to its low oil absorption and high filling capacity. It was used to replace 10% to 25% of the titanium powder in water-based coatings. So as to increase the whiteness but not decrease the covering power.

With high whiteness and uniform particle size distribution, barium sulfate is used both as a filler and reinforcing effect in tire and rubber, rubber, plastic board insulation, adhesive tape, and engineering plastics etc., it can enhance product ageing resistance, weather resistance, acid-proof alkaline, and significantly improve the surface finish and reduce the production cost.
